Auditions for "Carrie the Musical".
Seeking a diverse cast, male and female. Refer to the show information and cast descriptions posted in the discussion section.
Bring a resume and headshot if available.
Be prepared to sing a song of your choice. Bring an IPod, Phone, mini boom box, or similar with your backing/karaoke track. We prefer something rock-esque, pop or rock-ballad. It need not be from a Broadway Musical, but is preferred.
Be prepared also to do a couple minute monologue. Contemporary or dramatic preferred (i.e. a comedic monologue wouldn't be applicable to the show)
Check all schedule conflicts through March 2017. Bring a list of any conflicting dates with you.
CALLBACKS: 12/6/2016, 6pm to 9pm.
Callbacks are by invitation. Being called back does not mean you were or were not cast. It simply means we need to see more to help the production team make choices. Callbacks will include dance, singing, and possibly readings.
Note: Rehearsals are held in a different location than auditions.
SYNOPSIS: Carrie White is a misfit. At school, she's an outcast who's bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving but cruelly overprotective and extremely religious mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it... After a particularly cruel shaming/pranking of Carrie occurs, one person has the compassion and courage to ask a simple question; "What does it cost to be kind?"
"CARRIE": The Musical takes a timely, realistic and hard look at peer pressure, school bullying, and even the rise of social media in these instances.
Based on Stephen King's best selling novel, it is set in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine. Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose). This musical has strong anti-bullying and retaliation themes. The climax of the show will require some roles to do mild physical stunts, tumbling and/or wire work.
Seeking a vocally strong and diverse cast, playing ages 18 to 40.
