"Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett
Callbacks: Wednesday, 10/26, 8:00 - 9:30 p.m. (if necessary)
In Waiting for Godot, two wandering tramps, Vladimir and Estragon, wait by a lonely tree, to meet up with Mr. Godot, an enigmatic figure in a world where time, place and memory are blurred and meaning is where you find it. The tramps hope that Godot will change their lives for the better. Instead, two eccentric travelers arrive, one man on the end of the other's rope. The results are both funny and dangerous in this existential masterpiece.
All roles are open and flexible as to the age of the actors.
To be performed without accents.
Vladimir - old enough to be worn out; the more philosophical of the principals
Estragon - As old; the more grounded and child-like of the two
Pozzo - inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity. His appearance reflects the good life.
Lucky - Pozzo's slave; he is haggard in comparison to Pozzo. Although Lucky has only one (very long) line, this is a very demanding role.
Be prepared to read sides from the script. Prior knowledge of the script will be beneficial. Please also bring a list of your conflicts.
Performances run January 6-29, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays.
