"American Idiot" Auditions.
Please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary pop/rock song in the style of the show (one minute or less). This is a rock musical, please do not sing a traditional musical theatre song. If you play guitar, you may accompany yourself for your audition. Bring sheet music in the correct key. No acapella. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a headshot and resume.
Orientation: Monday, January 23, 2017.
Attendance at this meeting is not required to audition. This is a time to hear the director discuss the show and what he is looking for at the auditions. All your questions will be answered regarding auditions, rehearsals and performances at this meeting.
No appointments. First come first serve.
Vocal audition on this date only. We will let you know after your audition if you are invited to callbacks.

Rehearses January 30 - March 2, 2017 (Monday-Thursday 6pm-10pm) Tech Rehs are the weekend of March 4 & 5 from 12:30-11pm.
Performances: March 9, 10, 11 at 7pm and March 18 at 8pm. Closed performance for high school theater festival students on March 17 at 8pm.
Also a special morning performance on March 15 at 10am for invited high school students only.
Please note: Must be available for all rehearsals, performances and strike. No conflicts will be allowed. If cast, you must enroll in the course THEA 178F (2 units). Strike will be on March 19.
JOHNNY - The self-proclaimed "Jesus of Suburbia." Bored of his do-nothing, go-nowhere existence, he takes off for the city to get a new lease on life. He wages an inner war between a budding love for Whatsername and growing dependency on St. Jimmy and drugs. Range: B2 - B4
WILL - Johnny's friend. He ends up staying in Suburbia to take care of pregnant girlfriend Heather. The more he stays on the couch, the more he becomes slowly disconnected from the world and his own relationships. Range: C#3 - A4
TUNNY - Johnny's friend who follows him to the city and eventually enlists in the army. He travels to the Middle East. A dreamer who is easily swayed, first by Johnny's ideas and then by patriotism and the American Dream. Range: D3 - B4
ST. JIMMY - Johnny's alter ego. Known as the "city badass." An enigmatic and charismatic enabler who gets Johnny addicted to drugs and grows jealous of his relationship with Whatsername. Range: C3 - F#5
ENSEMBLE - Men. All physical types. Singer/Actors/Strong movers.
