Auditions for "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" Musical.

Based on the smash-hit movie, Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical is the heartwarming, uplifting adventure of three friends, Tick, Bernadette and Adam, a glamorous Sydney-based performing trio who agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback. They hop aboard a battered old bus (nicknamed Priscilla) searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they ever could have ever dreamed of. With a dazzling array of outrageous Olivier and Tony award-winning costumes and a hit parade of dance floor favourites including "It's Raining Men, I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, Finally, Boogie Wonderland, Go West, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and I Love The Nightlife, this wildly fresh and funny musical is a journey to the heart of fabulous!
Audition Preparation: All roles are open. Looking for a very diverse cast. Actors will be seen in order of arrival. Prepare 16-32 bars of an uptempo pop/rock song. Please bring sheet music in your key, your resume and a headshot if you have one. An accompanist will be provided. All must sing first and, if appropriate, will be asked to attend a dance call each evening. A call back audition, if needed, will be held on Wednesday April 12th, 6:30 to 8:30pm. Those auditioners who the director wishes to see further will be invited to the call back audition.
The Divas: 3 Females, 20s-30s; Sassy and strong, these women lead us through some of the greatest hits of the last decades. All shapes and sizes welcome - but brilliant vocalists in the disco-belt style a must. Will also be part of the female ensemble.
Shirley: Female, 40-50; Hardened outback bar tender/waitress. Good ironic comedy. Character acting, dance and strong singing ability - solo and ensemble pieces.
Marion: Female, 30-40; A hotel Entertainment Manager in Darwin, mother of 8 year Benjamin and estranged wife of Tick (Mitzi). A strong, direct and forthright woman who takes charge, but is incredibly accepting of her role as a single mother. There is a deep unconventional affection between her and Tick. Strong singing and acting. Will be required to sing and dance in ensemble numbers.
Cynthia: Female, 20-30; Bob's feisty Filipino wife. A frustrated performer of obscure stage tricks' which make her very popular at the local pub. She spends her days as a housewife looking after Bob and his home. Character acting, dance and singing ability essential. Please note: Anyone auditioning for this role should look at the scene in the film involving Cynthia's performance in the bar involving ping pong balls, where the role and costuming will be at its most raunchy.
Miss Understanding: Female, 20-30; A fabulous drag queen with great comic hosting ability. Sets up the tone of the show for us - must be able to work a crowd well, and look brilliant in drag. Ability to deliver Tina Turner numbers convincingly a must. Character acting, dance and singing ability, mostly all ensemble pieces with one key scene.
Ensemble: Females, 18-40; excellent acting, singing and dance ability. A number of performers are required to play a variety of ensemble characters in the production.
