The Company is holding a casting call for the next production in their 2016-17 season.
Auditions for "The Time of Your Life," by William Saroyan.
Looking for males ranging in age from 18 to 60 plus, and seven females, ranging in age from 20 to 60 plus - this play is another opportunity for both seasoned and first-time actors to take to the stage.
The production is set to be performed Feb. 10, 11 and 12, 2017.
"The Time of Your Life," the first drama to win both the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, is set in Nick's Pacific Street Saloon, Restaurant and Entertainment Palace, a run down dive bar in San Francisco.
Much of the play's action centers around Joe, a young loafer with money who encourages the bar's patrons in their eccentricities. He helps out a would-be dancer, Harry, and sets up his flunky, Tom, with a prostitute, Kitty Duval. The bar is frequented by colorful characters, including a frenetic young man in love, an old man who looks like Kit Carson, and an affluent society couple. Several characters are developed in depth, while others have brief walk-on parts with few lines.
"Some parts are short, but all parts contribute to the character of the night," said director Tom Loughridge. "Thus, there are parts for both experienced and novice actors."
Assistant Director will be asking auditioning candidates to cold read lines from the play. Scripts will be made available. They will be looking for players who can make themselves heard, and "are not afraid to act out".
