Lovers & Other Strangers is five comic vignettes of love, sex & marriage, 1970's-style. There are a total of twelve characters (6 men), ages 20's thru 60's. Some doubling possible.
The scenes & characters are:
JERRY. 20's. When Jerry invites Brenda to his apartment following a date, Brenda turns the tables on his macho advances.
MIKE, 20's. With their wedding coming up. Mike's cold feet compel him to implore Susan to call it off. Susan calmly lets him vent and then proceeds with wedding plans.
JOHNNY, 30's/40's. Johnny's "not in the mood" to make love when his wife, Wilma, asks. The battle over his masculinity and her femininity ensues.
HAL, 30's/40's. In the middle of an affair, the two meet in the bathroom at a party. Cathy's tired of waiting for Hal to leave his wife. Hal will create any excuse to have his cake and eat it too.
FRANK, RICHIE. Bickering parents 50's/60's/young couple, 20's. Richie & Joan are getting a divorce. His very traditional parents "don't believe in divorce." What ensues is generational divide and divine comedy.
