Original Band Looking for Drummer.
Grenville is searching for a drummer to join our group. As of this moment our core focus is writing and recording so we need somebody who is ok spending some time working out ideas as we write and laying down clean tracks for the recordings. We will progress to live shows when the time is right but if that is your primary goal we may not be on the pace you require. We don't have any requirements for prior band experience or even playing outside of your own basement as long as you can play.
The current line-up includes myself (Josh-guitar), we recently added a new bass player Kyle (I was playing bass but we wanted an upgrade and I am better suited on guitar), our lead guitarist and lead vocalist, Cole and keyboardist/studio drummer/percussionist/violinist/ uilleann pipe-ist (?)...etc, Chad. The original 3 of us have grown up learning music together (Cole and Chad are brothers and I am the cousin) so admittedly we kind of have a system down (they write the music and I write the lyrics). We very much want a collaborator but it will also be important that you can take direction as sometimes the drum parts will be mostly (if not entirely) structured by the songwriters.
We don't want to define our music since we do like to experiment with a lot of sounds...so you can call us progressive rock if you are so inclined. We are big fans of Rush, Genesis & Pink Floyd (as far as the things we agree on). Aside from that we all like a wide variety of other artists individually (Joe Bonamassa, Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson, AC/DC, Mark Knopfler, Kansas, Yes, Classical, Choral, etc)...you get the point. Follow the link to check out our Youtube page with the link to see how we utilize those influences.
We don't party (no drugs) and don't drink much...we do however eat a lot of Chinese food. We are 21-28 years old and a drummer of similar age would be preferred. We have a dedicated practice space and home recording studio to utilize...I think it is a pretty nice set-up if I do say so myself.
The audition plan would be for you to learn our song "Secrets of the Wind" (the best you can by ear) and we will jam that a bit. If you would like to also jam a cover song of your choice we will try to learn it and play along (time permitting). Other than that we will get to know each other and see if we would be a good fit.
So, that's about it...if you want to learn more or have an interest in a meeting/audition please email. Samples of your work would be nice as well.
