Folk Band Looking for Female Fiddle player/ harmony vocalist!
The folk group Palomino is searching for a female fiddle player/vocalist! Right now we are a 2 piece group. I play guitar, harmonica, slide, while my band mate plays mandolin. We also have an upright bass player and banjo player joining the group in September. The mandolin player and myself share lead vocal responsibilities, he sings lead on the songs he has written and vice versa.
We consider ourselves a folk band, however we also take huge influence from early country and bluegrass music, Our biggest influences are Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Shaky Graves, Simon and Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Old Crow Medicine Show, Ramblin Jack Elliot, Father John Misty, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and The Lowest Pair to name a few.
We are searching for a female member who is able to play the Fiddle, as well as add to the vocal harmonies by taking the alto or soprano part. I am 21 and the other member is 30 so we are looking for members in that age area. You don't have to be a "Professional" musician by any means but some experience working in bands and performing would be preferred. Basically if you can play, add to the group, and be creative you would be a great fit! Right now we are practicing 2 nights a week, on the rare occasion 3 nights a week. We are trying to keep that going but also understand that work and school can get in the way. Both of us just have jobs that have very flexible hours.
Right now we have around 5 originals ready and are working on getting a few covers down. Between all the members we have connections to different clubs around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area as well and North Dakota, Montana, New York, Arizona, the North West, the South East, and the East coasts. We pretty much have connections all around the US and hope to use those in the future to expand our fan base and find shows. We are hoping to be trying to play shows once a week, and are working hard and quickly to get there but also realize that it takes time. We also hope to try and do some tours over the summer, depending if everything works out.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in or if you have anymore questions feel free to call or text. We do not have any videos or recordings of our songs yet but are working on it and should be able to send a demo if needed, also if you have any recordings or videos we can review that would be a plus. We do have all of our songs typed and chorded out and can provide them to you, or anything else to help you get the songs down if we decide to work together. We hope to hear from you.
