Auditions for Community Theater Production of "A Christmas Carol".
Please prepare one 60-90 second monologue, comedic or dramatic.
The language of A Christmas Carol falls in between classical and contemporary. We suggest auditioning with a "semi-classical" piece, something ranging between late 1700's to early 1900's. But for those more comfortable with a modern piece, please feel free to perform a contemporary monologue.
We also encourage preparing 1-2 stanzas from either Christmas song listed below. Be prepared to sing acapella (no sheet music necessary) within whatever key you see fit.
Christmas Songs: Silent Night OR O Holy Night.
Many Characters will be cast in multiple roles. Looking (but not limited to) people who can sing and harmonize in order to create a chorus of carolers to perform throughout the play.
Ebeneezer Scrooge - (early 50's to 70's) shrewd, miserly, unfeeling, cold with the ability to become very compassionate, energetic and joyous by the end of the play.
Fred - (20's to 30's) passionate charismatic, with a full, joyous laugh, nephew of
Scrooge Bob Cratchit - (late 30's to mid 40's) quiet and obedient around Scrooge, warm, caring, humble, poor family man.
The Ghost of Christmas Present - (mid 20's - late 40's, gender neutral) bold, merry, larger than life personality.
The Ghost of Christmas Past - (teen to 20's/30s, gender neutral) child-like, soft, gentle, whimsical.
Jacob Marley - (45+) miserly and shrewd like Scrooge, comes back as a ghost to warn his old business partner.
Fezziwig - (40's-50's) playful, merry, Scrooge's old boss, renowned for throwing great parties.
Peter Cratchit - (mid-late teens) hard-working, embarrasses easy, quiet and thoughtful son of Cratchit.
OTHER SPEAKING ROLES: Charitable Gentlemen, Colleagues, Tiny Tim's Little Brother, Thieves, Different Men at Christmas Parties.
Every actor cast will have a speaking part.
Rehearsals Start Wednesday, November 5
Rehearsal Days Mondays and Wednesdays 6-9:30pm
(with exceptions the week before and week of Tech/Dress Rehearsals)
Preview: Sunday, December 4
Performances Friday, December 16 at 7pm, Saturday December 17 at 2pm and 7pm
(Possible Senior Matinee Thurs, Dec. 15 dependent on cast availability)
