"The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" Needs Singer/Dancer/Actors
Location: Oradell, NJ
Ethnicity: All ethnicities
Audition Notice: The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940.
Performance Dates: Fri/Sat/Sun from January 14 - February 7, 2017.
CALLBACKS (by invitation only): Saturday, November 5th at 10:00am.
SYNOPSIS: The creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious "Stage Door Slasher") assemble for a backer's audition of their new show at the snowbound Westchester estate of a wealthy "angel". The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways, and a German maid who is apparently four different people - all of which figure diabolically in the comic mayhem that ensues when the infamous "Slasher" makes his reapperance and strikes again - and again.
Michael Kelly - (30s and up) African-American, should be good-size man. Undercover detective from New York.
Patrick O'Reilly - Irish cop with an exaggerated Irish accent, and occasional odd pronunciations. He eventually reverts to a Bronx accent and then a German one.
Ken de la Maize - (mid 40s) Handsome, tanned, George Hamilton "Mr. Hollywood" type. Very theatrical and very "artistic". Seems to have directed a number of films that were never actually released.
Eddie McCuen - (late 20s) Struggling, somewhat cornball, energetic comedian. Young Bob Hope type. Must sing and dance.
Roger Hopewell - (late 30s and up) The songwriter and Bernice's partner. Mimes playing the piano onstage briefly for two songs.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. These are all larger-than-life characters. Please do not read cold. Please use accents when called for.
