"Impromptu" finds four actors sitting on a darkened stage awaiting the arrival of the stage manager who has called them together. Each of them are distinct "types" and without the presence of the stage manager are lost. The only thing they know is that they can't leave the stage until they have "acted out the play". Suddenly becoming aware of the audience, the actors decide to "improvise" a show. The drama that unfolds is a mixture of truth, fantasy and well-rehearsed situations. But out of it comes a deepening awareness of the real people behind their theatrical facades.
Ernest: (M 40-50's) a debonair, but aging, leading man.
Tony: (20's) the juvenile
*each actor must be comfortable with improvisation and the dynamics of working with other actors in that way*
There will be minimal rehearsals around the holidays with the primary rehearsal schedule starting up after the New Year.
