Auditions for "Guys and Dolls" Musical.
Seeking females 18+.
For Musicals, be prepared to sing 16 bars of music by yourself at the auditions. Bring either the sheet music, or a CD (without lyrics!) to auditions. Have your sheet music marked with a clear start and finish point. Choose music that showcases your personality and vocal range. We do not recommend singing pop music or a song from the show for which you are auditioning. You will not be allowed to sing a cappella (without musical accompaniment.)
Dress comfortably and appropriately. No flip flops! You may have to dance, so dress to move.
Smile and enjoy yourself! Smile at the directors and don't rush. If you are nervous, fake it. Try to relax, we are pulling for you and want you to do well.
Be your best physically. (Get plenty of rest and eat well before an audition. Bananas are great for nerves!)
Be on your best behavior at auditions. The directors will be watching you from the moment you enter the theatre. Be quiet and respectful of everyone auditioning.
Never apologize for your performance or ask to start over. You will not be allowed to start over or repeat an audition. You get one chance, so make it count.
Warm-up vocally and physically. For example, sing in the car on the way to auditions, do a few exercises to calm your nerves.
Arrive a little early to the auditions so you will have time to get your picture taken, fill out forms, and get signed in before the start-time.
Practice your song a lot and practice reading out loud with expression (especially scripts).
