Performance Dates: March 10 to 26, 2017
Seeking males 18+.
In 19th Century Austria, Ludwig van Beethoven became obsessed with a simple melody, spending years composing the Diabelli Variations. Two centuries later and an ocean away, music scholar Katherine Brandt has her own obsession, studying the variations and trying to understand Beethoven's fascination. Katherine's strained relationship with her daughter and her rapidly progressing ALS complicate her work, while Beethoven's growing deafness complicate his. 33 Variations examines the creative process of both the composer and the scholar, juxtaposing their stories across time. A live pianist accompanies the show, weaving the Diabelli Variations into the story. This drama, by playwright Moises Kaufman, is appropriate for teenage and adult audiences.
