Brooklyn was given to me, as a nickname because I am told this is how I sound where I am from when I talk. I was born in New Orleans, but my maternal Grandparents like many immigrants, settled in the Big Apple prior to coming to New Orleans. One did not speak English at all and the other one had a British accent. I am the end result of that mixed brogue two generations ago.
I have a singing voice extremely close in range and in some songs identical to Pat Benatar. I have sung her songs since the beginning of her career. The raw talent is there and I have had only two voice classes in college many years ago.
I enjoy ice-skating and am a member of the Figure Skating Club of New Orleans (FSCNO), although I have not been on the ice for years and have only completed up to Basic 4 in classes, which is a beginners level. I truly love the sport and feel so at ease on the ice. Since the rink is several hours away, it has not become feasible for a recreational skater to travel such distance so I do not get to skate like I once did when the rink was closer to home.
Although at forty-eight (48) years old, I do not look or feel it. I work only part-time because that is all I can get. A couple of years ago I was pulling fifty-five to sixty hours a week. I am still in the pizza business but like everything, it has its ups and downs. Working part-time now leaves me time to do something else.
I did not finish college but went into a semester of Surgical Technology. I still can recall many instruments and love the surgical atmosphere. Almost nothing grosses me out.
I have also devoted many hours to animal rights and am not afraid of wild animals. I have for the last eight years fed raccoons on my patio and kept a diary of their behavior and eating habits. I once went to the shelter to protect hybrid wolves and stuck my hand in their cage to pet them. Snakes, spiders, horses, etc..I love them all. Oh, wait, not the roach!!
Football is a favorite topic of mine and I love talking about it. Give me one and an open space and Ill be happy.
For relaxing at home I can be found doing Word Jumbles or Word Searches. I am currently doing a jigsaw puzzle. Mazes are challenge as well. At the present I am also reading Pat Benatar's Book, 'Between a Heart and a Rock Place.
I have no formal training but many time over the years have been told I am very expressive with my emotions. I think this would be a great opportunity and fun to be a part of any production. Only two times have I been on stage in my youth and both were for local beauty pageants. The first was when I was a senior in High School and the second was my first year in college. I have also been on a local Television Show in the early 1990s called the Angela Show with news anchor Angela Hill talking about Post Partum Depression. I am very at ease being in front of a crowd or camera.
