Acting, Modeling, Band Gigs, Dancing, Voice-Over, Singing
I've been performing my entire life. From church to school choirs in elementary, all the way through high school. Worked with an amazing theater company, the Performance Project, under the Artistic Director Julie Lichtenberg, for 9 years. Have had the privilege of working with some professional, nationally, and some world wide recognized artists like professors and professional dancers Donna Mehia and Leslie Farlow. And famous percussionist Joe Sallins, just to name a few. Through frequent, intensive trainings with the Performance Project family and artist like those I've mentioned, my stage presence and range of ability as an actor has seasoned beautifully, ready for any stage and a career as a performing artist.
With the Performance Project, I worked closely with the Julie to help create and tour original theater pieces. Ripple Effect was created in 2009 and toured up and down the Pioneer Valley doing exactly what the title means; sending a powerful message out into the word through our performance, creating a ripple effects of people thinking outside the box and deeper within themselves. There was also Fo Na Le, an original piece that also toured the Pioneer Valley and also went to the Revolutions Theater Festival in Albuquerque, NM. For all the years working with the project, we had constant intense trainings, meeting a few times a week, and weekend and sometimes week-long retreats with guest artists. These are some of the skills these artists have helped me gain and hone some of my talents:
Stage presence and how even the slightest movements read differently
Focus and working with a cast/ ensemble
Knowing the differences between state theater and performing in front of a camera
Just to name some of the basics.
I've also participated in smaller gigs such as educational videos that were shown to help student in the pioneer valley about active bystanders and interviewed film the HBO film God Loves Uganda which shares a scene about the gay hating pastor Scott Lively living in my hometown, Springfield, Massachusetts, and his influence on the anti-gay legislations in Uganda. In Marathon, FL, I played the mighty Captain Mile Gloriosus in the musical "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" with the local community theater every weekend for the entire mi the of March of 2016.
I am a seasoned and disciplined performer. I have a huge range of skills and am always looking for more ways to enhance the skills i have and new skills i can learn that will help me become a stronger performer. Having come from a very rough area, I have understanding of the deep reality of living in the ghetto, especially being a gay person of color living in a ghetto. It is part of my survival. But I also have been blessed enough to make it out of the country and see the world outside of the US. I have spent time in suburban areas where life is just completely different and also very real. I use that pain, that excitement and the passion in all my performances. My looks are very flexible and I am comfortable enough to have fun in almost any role put in.
Performing is my passion, telling stories that impact people is my passion. This is, still, on.y the beginning.
