Looking for non-equity male actors for "Equivocation" by Bill Cain.
Playing: July 27 - August 19.
"Equivocation" stars Shagspeare and his merry band of actors as they try to keep their theatre company going while the playwright attempts to finish a play that sounds an awful lot like King Lear (which the actors think is, frankly, madness) and the actual King, James I, instructs him to write a very different story, telling (from the government's point of view) the tale of the gunpowder plot. With witches. The King is very insistent on including witches.
It's a political comedy. A madcap drama. A very physical, fun show for actors who can twist their tongues around lines from The Scottish Play - and still make a very contemporary point about propaganda and who controls the message. Almost everyone plays multiple roles, very quickly. Looking for male actors of all ages, preferably with some experience of Shakespeare, who are passionate about creating intelligent and highly collaborative theatre.
The show will begin rehearsing from mid-June.
