Auditions for "Driving Miss Daisy"
By Alfred Uhry
Co-Directed by: Jason D. Smith & Walter A. Webster
Set in the Deep South, 1948, just prior to the civil rights movement, DRIVING MISS DAISY, is a heartfelt, yet humorous, look into the unlikely relationship between an aging, Southern white lady, and a proud, soft-spoken black man. When Daisy Werthan totals her new car, the Jewish widow of seventy-two is forced by her son, Boolie, into utilizing the services of a private chauffeur, Hoke. DRIVING MISS DAISY spans the twenty-five years covering the unlikely pair's initial disparities and tribulations to their eventual mutual understanding, growth, and commonality in an era well before its time.
