Ethnicity: White / Caucasian
Film Title: "To Avenge"
Supporting Role: James Danvers
"To Avenge" will be filming in late March through April 2018 with most scenes shooting in the Ocean City, Maryland and Fenwick Island, Delaware shore areas, Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.
Background: The two sons of Clayton and Abgail Danvers have been raised in wealth and privilege in one of the most powerful families in the country. Growing up in such an environment has left both young men with a sense of entitlement and superiority that leads them and their two friends to commit a terrible crime (sexual assault) against a young woman while she's visiting her family's beach house during an off-season visit to the seaside resort town of Ocean City, Maryland.
Because of the Danvers' family's deep pockets and powerful connections, the two boys have learned from experience that they can pretty much get away with anything. After a brief, seemingly innocuous incident on the boardwalk one evening, the older brother leads the others to make a young woman pay - to "teach her a lesson" for disrespecting him.
When the two brothers along with their friends are charged with rape, their parents - Clayton and Abigail Danvers are not interested in hearing the facts. They have no concern for the victim whatsoever. Their only goal is get the charges dropped and "make this thing go away". They support their sons without question and will do whatever it takes to make sure they go free, hence protecting the family's good name.
The Danvers are not only wealthy, but well-connected politically. After learning his sons are being charged with rape, kidnapping and a host of other charges, Clayton Danvers makes a phone call to an unidentified person telling them directly, "Bill this thing with my boys - Make it go away". The following day the district attorney is contacted and told not to move forward with the grand jury case and to make sure all the charges are dropped - or his career is over.
Along with intimidation, the DA is further blackmailed into taking this action by a threat to reveal a recent marital infidelity - assuring him the exposure of his indiscretion will cost him, his wife and kids, his home, his standing in the community and ultimately, his career. Due to that pressure, the DA reverses course and makes the argument that because the victim was not physically beaten and because of the nature of the acts involved during the assault could be construed as "consensual", Vera is told in the eyes of the law, there was no rape. Her four attackers are released from custody and the Danvers walk out with their sons who publically declare their innocence and vindication - making the claim that their victim had lied about the incident to either get attention and fame or she was looking for money. Meanwhile, Vera sees no justice for what was done to her and is basically told to go home - "just try to forget" and put it all behind her.
The role you are submitting for is James Danvers, the younger of the two brothers. James is described as being around 19 or 20 years old and is still in school. His older brother Jason is about 23 years old and has a GQ, put-together look at all times. While Jason is constantly seen at the country club, the marina, the Atlantic City casinos or one of the nightlife hot spots in and around Washington, DC., younger brother James is off at Harvard still completing his undergraduate studies. As such. James can only get into town to hang out with his brother on the weekends or during school breaks.
The two come to Maryland shore together frequently as they have access to a 50' yacht that's kept docked in Ocean City, MD where the Danvers family keeps an expansive summer house overlooking the Atlantic ocean.
James looks up to his older brother. He's smart, athletic and always looks out for his kid brother. The two were pretty much raised having everything they ever wanted with the exception of parents or family love. Abigail and Clayton were rarely at home with their children. The boys learned to entertain themselves with mischief and their busy parents always overlooked and simply took care of any trouble their sons got into. The permissive, rudderless environment left the two boys without a moral compass. This time, however, the brothers learn that no amount of money will keep them from getting the justice they so richly deserve. In the months that follow the rape, a mysterious woman named Taarna targets the four men who attacked Vera and visits each - with nightmarish results.
James is written as being 20 years of age, so we need an actor who looks to be believable in that age range. Sorry, but please don't write saying you're 26 or 30, but you look younger - we simply won't consider you. James is twenty, you need to look right around that age.
The actor playing Jason, your older brother, has already been booked. He looks like a GQ or Men's Health model with neatly trimmed blondish-brown hair. He is Caucasian, 23 y/o and has what girls would describe as handsome, boyish-good looks. We need a slightly younger brother who fits in the same range appearance wise - handsome, physically fit, and sophisticated-looking with a charming demeanor - maybe a bit devilish, etc. James is the quintessential "rich kid" who looks and acts the part.
Nerdy looks won't work. Tough guy looks won't work. Body builder competition physiques won't work. The right actor will have light, pale complexion. Hair is well kept, body is trim, average height (5' 8" to 5' 10") no facial hair, clear skin/complexion, no visible tattoos, an overall conservative look. Speech: No discernible accent whatsoever - foreign or domestic. You must be well spoken and sound "east coast" without regional aka: Boston or Southern accent.
Your character, along with three others, sexually assaults an innocent girl you encounter on the boardwalk one evening. Your older brother leads everyone to follow her and the group ends up forcing entry into her home and each "takes turns" on her. Defenseless and with the threat of a knife to her throat, the young woman complies. When the assault is over, the four men simply up and leave her on the floor of her family's home. She seeks treatment, a police report is filled and due to a DNA databank match, the group is arrested and are all in police custody with a week of the crime.
Due to behind-the-scenes pressure, blackmail and bribes coming from the powerful Danvers family, the charges are dropped. James returns to school and his brother goes back to his playboy lifestyle. None of the men are aware they are being watched - targeted by a woman who has decided she's not going to let this simply drop.
Please submit only if you meet all of the requirements and will have availability in your schedule for spring 2018. Please note, we cannot and will not be able to work around or accommodate school schedules.
