Page 1 of 3Valerie "Val" Mc Connell First Lady of Las Vegas Interviews Valerie McConnell: American Media Executive, Talk Show Host, Actress and Producer While creating TV Shows in Los Angeles, Valerie discovered there was an opening for a television Sports Journalist with CMX Sports Entertainment, a sports and entertainment company based in Las Vegas. CMX was owned by business executives and brothers Eric and Tony Brown. Eric and Tony met Valerie as a result of an introduction by Don King's head trainer Stacy Mc kinley. Mc kinley was also the trainer for world boxing champion Mike Tyson when he met Valerie. Both were at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the Jones Ruiz match. Valerie was there to interview WBC champion Roy Jones and John Ruiz during the Caesar's Palace Press Conference. She also met Don King, who was also there for the fight, and granted her the first of several interviews with the internationally renowned and colorful Kingpin of Boxing Promotions. Following the Caesar's event she interviewed with Eric and Tony for the Producer/Host position with CMX, and was selected from the many hopeful interviewees. They were impressed with her prior interviews and broadcasts from her LA TV show through Time Warner, and the fact that she was a certified producer through Time Warner. During her employment with CMX, Valerie earned the reputation as being a stellar reporter. She traveled as a reporter for the company for 3 years. Some of her interviews included sports figures, celebrities, and business moguls such as Don King, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Freddie Roche, Gavin Maloof, Magic Johnson, Fergie, and 50 Cent . Exciting but also challenging, Valerie's position as a Host producer for CMX always required her to cover high profile events and interviews individuals such as the CEOs/Investors of the Super Bowl events for Super Bowl 2004 in Huston, Texas . (Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake performed during half time). CMX hosted the after party, and Valerie was the Host Interviewer. Janet and her dancers attended, as well as the Jackson brothers. The following year, Valerie attended Super Bowl 2005 at the Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. (This was the first time a Super Bowl was played in that city). Red Carpet Events for: BET, Billboard, and Radio Music Awards were also covered. Following her tenure with CMX, Valerie formed her own company/Val TV Network. Among her memorable and favored interviewing events are the BET "Celebration of Gospel" host Steve Harvey, and the Pre-Grammy Award Show where she met and took a photo with the iconic music legend James Brown. Valerie has acquired and maintained favorable relationships with popular Las Vegas hotels such as MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Palms Hotel, Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas Hilton, The Luxor Hotel Casino, The Venetian, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas and the M Hotel & Casino. Val TV Network's entertainment line also include music concerts and fashion shows. How It All Began: The Pre-quel Valerie McConnell was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She has 3 sisters and 3 brothers, and is next to the youngest of the siblings. At 19 Valerie McConnell won the Miss Black, Chattanooga Beauty Pageant appeared on TV and appeared on the cover of a Few national and international magazines Metropolitan, Players International (featured Cover Girl) on several issues and a received a Celebrity Profile write up in the Magazine. After graduating high school, she enrolled in Chatanooga Community College for one year. She later enrolled in Tennessee State University in Nashville where she majored in Business Administration and remained there two years. She had to attend college at the behest of her mother. "To not pursue a college education was not an option." Val came to Los Angeles during Spring Break and remained in LA for six months; during which time she enrolled in an acting class under John Despair. When the class ended, she returned home and obtained a job with WTCI PBS as a television camera woman for nearly two years, and later traveled to Atlanta where she enrolled in Devry Institute of Technology, and studied to become an Electronic Engineer. Desiring to return to the City Of Angels, she transferred to the Devry Campus in California, and graduated from the LA branch with an AA/Associate Degree in Electronics. Her official entree to Hollywood began as a result of a referral from an Atlanta club owner who she met just before leaving Atlanta to continue her education in California. Page 3 of 3to one of Valerie's long time dreams of becoming a dancer on "Soul Train" a popular dance television show Produced by the late legendary Don Cornelius. As a dancer on" Soul Train" she met her dance partners Earl Martin and David Philips who were also television producers. Ed and David collaborated with Valerie on a sound trackfor the "Egyptian Cowgirl", a television adventure show written and directed by Valerie. The show was based on a mythical fictional super hero that was an Ancient Egypt Princess". Valerie portrayed the princess hero. This marked her debut as a film director, producer and actress. Valerie continues to have aspirations to be in front of the camera as an actress. She has appeared in a John Singleton short/video for "Michael Jackson entitled "Remember the Time". Second to "Thriller", "Remember the Time" was the highest rated Video which Highlighted Michael Jackson's career, She played alongside Richard Pryor in Eddie Murphy's " Harlem Nights", and was cast in a Principle role for the film "Vera's Girl starring Red Fox, Richard Pryor and Jasmine Guy, and in the movie The American Dream as a Jackson family member. Valerie has a real love for acting, dancing, television production, modeling, music and art. Lastly, in addition for her various tasks and assignments, she is a writer for several magazines: Elite Magazine, "Beverly Hills Review", and Sgib Magazine", and is a Contributing Writer to Hollywood Las Vegas Magazine and "Shonuff' Times", an online magazine.
